Stream “Conatus”, the new Zola Jesus LP

I just streamed Conatus, the new album by Zola Jesus (which appeared on my recent Anticipated Records list), over at The Guardian’s music blog. Nothing struck me with the immediate gut-punch intensity of “Lightsick”, from last year’s exceptional Valusia EP — though massive closer “Collapse” comes close. And it’s definitely a strong, interesting album, one that merits a lot of further listen and digging in. I just thought I’d let you all know that it’s there to be streamed if you’re interested.

Also, Danilova gives brief descriptions, which are almost comically bleak, of her process behind writing each song on the record — make sure to check those out.
