Active Child – “Hanging On”
Another day, another debut by a buzzband with a stupid name that I can’t help but be won over by. (Let’s think, this year has already seen the same thing happen with I Break Horses, Big Spider’s Back, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, for starters. Seriously, guys — those were the best names you could come up with?) But the combination of husky falsetto, transmogrified harp, and expansive arrangements on You Are All I See is enough for Active Child to overcome his irritating name. Here’s the track that’s hooked me the most the past couple of days.
