Stream new Broken Social Scene, Hold Steady!!

Broken Social Scene’s Forgiveness Rock Record and The Hold Steady’s Heaven Is Whenever were both slated for release on May 4th (as mentioned in my New Music Roundup post), but now they’re both steaming online at NPR’s website (which more and more bands have been doing, it seems).  Yippee!  Here’s BSS, and here’s The Hold Steady.

I’ll admit, I haven’t listened to Heaven yet, but I’ve been listening to the BSS leak over the past week or so.  I refrained from posting songs from it, because…well, I suppose I’m trying to maintain some semblance of my morality.  But now that the cat’s out of the bag, Forgiveness Rock Record is really fantastic.  It’s rocketed up to a potential year-end-favorite position, alongside Titus Andronicus, LCD Soundsystem, and Local Natives.  Early highlights include advance single “World Sick”, face-melting instrumental maelström “Meet Me in the Basement”, single “All to All”, “Chase Scene”, “Sentimental X’s”, “Ungrateful Little Father”, and beyond.  Check it out immediately.  As for the Hold Steady album, I’ve got my fingers crossed.
