Song of the Moment – Rufus Wainwright

Rufus Wainwright – “Going to a Town” – Release the Stars

I’ve gotta say, I think Mr. Wainwright is a seriously underrated singer-songwriter.  He may be most known for, you know, covering that Leonard Cohen song in the Shrek movie, but bro’s got some of the most amazing pipes in all of pop music.  Just listen to “Slideshow” if you don’t believe me.  And a lot of the time, he writes some really friggin pretty songs.  “Going to a Town” is one of those.  Great chord structure, solid lyrics, beautiful accompaniment, and amazing vocal performance.  I’ve been inspired to teach myself this one for the old pianoforte, but I don’t expect to hold a candle to Rufus’s talent.
